About Our Bonner Family
These are the descendents of James Bonner and Mary Laird Bonner. They came with their parents (William and Mary Bonner, Samuel and Margaret Gibson Laird) from Northern Ireland, settled and married in Abbeville Co, South Carolina. Here they raised a family of nine children; all but two of these had children of their own. From Abbeville County they spread to Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Indiana and many points between and beyond.

This site is just in its beginnings, and I have much more information to add. Even when that has been added, there will be even more that I have chosen not to post. Contact me if you think it might be something that would be useful to you. I welcome any additions or corrections.

In addition to the Bonner family, I have information on the following connected families: Ardery, Brownlee, Burke, Barrow, Campbell, Cathcart, Cowan (South Carolina roots), Cowan (North Carolina roots), Ellis, Hathorn/Hawthorn/Hawthorne, Laird/Leard, Lee, Lindsay, Speer, Steele, and Stone.

The Bonner family has honorably answered the call to military service beginning with the American Revolution. Some paid the ultimate price. We remember them here.
